D&D Challenge Day 24 – Favourite Magic Item

Day 24 – What is your favourite magic item?

My friend Andrew runs his game in a very interesting way – he’s deeply invested in storytelling and so he tries hard to get his players to think about their character and add different facets to them to flesh them out a bit before we start playing. He asked each of us to think of three items of special interest that were carrying and describe them. I thought about this and came up with (for one of the three) a magical item of no apparent use.

It was a coin – an 5-sided coin, distinctively marked and coloured, unlike anything I had seen elsewhere. But this coin would always return to me somehow, no matter where I spent it. Not by flying through the air or just magically appearing, but rather, it would turn up next time I get a coin given to me. I could spend it on the wharf before boarding a ship for a foreign shore and then find it included in the change when I buy my first drink at the next port. I could fling it into the sea and then find in the pockets of the next Orc I kill. How it gets there, I do not know. I cannot give it away, but it’s of no practical use to me since its value is only a few coppers.

Cool huh?
