Pond Wars diorama mk II

00 I have finished the foliage on the bonzai tree as well as painting the assassin turtle. I put the diorama inside the pot as well, so you can see how it will look once it’s all finished. All I need to do now is a little bit more ground cover and paint the frogs!

Pond Wars diorama WIP

00 I have been quietly working on a diorama in recent weeks (my first), in between other, more important projects. But I’ve nearly finished and couldn’t wait to show you all. It’s a Japanese-themed scene but using Eureka Miniature’s wonderful Warrior Frog range of figures. When I saw their Frog King model, a scene immediately […]

Enter with Dragon

00 My son Sam and I have had fun painting some models that came with a book on dragons he received last Christmas. Sam chose the colours and I gave him some guidance on how to achieve certain effects (as well as neatening up some bits here and there). The four dragons came out pretty […]

News from the Kamarg #3

00 Nic Robson from Eureka Miniatures kindly cast up some copies of a segment of the battlements for the tower. These came out really neat and enabled me to press on with the master model. The plan is to provide four main pieces to the caster, one of which needs to be duplicated to build […]

Back from Melbourne all fired up

00 I went to Melbourne on Saturday to have a meeting with a great bunch of guys in an old pub in Abbortsford. The pub was where they used to film scenes from The Sullivans, a very popular soap set during the Second World War – very nice inside and decent food. We sat and […]

On the road again…

00 I just can’t wait to get on the road again! Genuinely excited about a trip to Melbourne this weekend where I will be meeting several people to talk about developing a number of gaming products for commercial sale over the next couple of years. Rulebooks, boxed games, miniature figures and terrain models are all […]

And at a deadly pace…

00 … it came from outer space, and this is how the message ran. Just put the finishing touches on a scratch-built flying saucer model and it’s now ready for invading Planet Earth. I bought enough bits for 4 of these vessels (my youngest has already claimed one of them) at the princely sum of […]

I need new eyes.

00 Trying to model in 10mm is almost beyond the capacity of my pathetic and aging eyesight. Doing the stonework on the Kamarg tower is proving to be a lot more fiddly than I thought it would be and I’ve had to resort to using magnifying lenses so I can see the detail properly. But […]

Kamarg prepares for war

00 I’ve started construction of the tower base now. It’s a 10mm scale model and this is the first time I’ve attempted anything that small before, so it’s going to be an interesting challenge. A friend of mine suggested it’s best not to try not to add too much detail, so I’ll keep that in […]

News from the Kamarg

00 Moments later the tower began to spin faster and faster, and Hawkmoon realized in astonishment that it was disappearing below the ground, the flame passing harmlessly over it. The Jewell in the Skull – Michael Moorcock. The towers of the Kamarg were the bastion of that land’s defence against the brutal hordes of the […]
