Schloss Schwarz Eingangstor

The castle gatehouse is coming along at a pleasing pace. As it progresses I am getting a clearer picture of how much effort is needed to build this table and, yes, once again I have bitten off much more than time will allow me to chew!

So I’ve begun to set myself daily tasks and monthly milestones in order to get it all done to the level of detail that I will be happy with. The London Bridge table was started too late and other (important) things distracted me from completing it to the standard I was originally aiming at, so this time around I have planned it better and shouldn’t have to rush things at the end again.

Friday: 10 July

  • Battlement master model
  • Tile and paint the gallery roof
  • Paint the gallery walls
  • Finish scribing gatehouse front wall
  • Finish plastering gallery base
  • Scribe more roof tiles

Weekend: 11 – 12 July

  • Make mould for stonework
  • Make battlements
  • Scribe stonework into gallery base, window box

That’ll do for the moment. I’ll update this post with pictures of my progress over the weekend.

Update: OK, I managed to do a lot over the weekend despite having to visit my mother-in-law and put up with bored children.
Here’s a couple of shots of the tower as it stands now:

  1. Alan, you are very organised! And I do like the photo of the gatehouse… cheers greg

  2. Nice plan Mate but I am questioning the castle name why did you choose castle rind

  3. Basically, it’s because I’m an idiot. I have corrected my spelling now. “Black Castle” i.e. Schloss Schwarz
