D&D Challenge Day 29 – House Rules OK

Day 28 – House rules – yay or nay?

When appropriate, yes. I don’t stick to the ‘rules’ of the game these days, but rather make ‘rulings’ based on the situation. If you want to throw your war hammer at a fleeing Hobgoblin, then sure, why not? But since you’ve never done it before we’ll say that you’re Disadvantaged. Rolled a 19 and 17. Bam! You hit and the Hobgoblin sprawls in the mud with the back of his skull crushed.

One of my players created a high elf character when we started playing 4E. His character had the Fey Step ability, which we were both mighty impressed with. When we moved to 5th Edition and his character was upgraded, I decided to let him keep the Fey Step ability since it was such a defining one and it seemed unfair to revoke it.
