I bought a kids plastic toy the other day with a view to converting it to a self-propelled gun for Jurassic Reich. It’s a triceratops from a German company called Schleich. They make some nice models and the sculpting on this one is pretty decent, even if the paint job isn’t.
I undercoated it with The Army Painter’s brown spray paint (great product too by the way), and then set about adding some natural-looking colour to it. It just took a couple of hours work to come up with something that I am pretty proud of.
And in other news, I’ve started working on the design for a launch track for the V1 Raketedactyl (a pterodactyl with a V1 rocket engine strapped to its back). Depending on how complex it turns out, it’s likely to go into the Jurassic Reich source book.
My favorite dino!
You did a great job on him Alan!! 🙂
Thanks Dave, mine too! I’m really happy with the smoothness of the blending I managed to achieve – most unusual for me. I have a couple of other dino toys that I’ll work on as well. I want to do a conversion with a Panzer IV turret on the back of one of these beasts.
Ahhh, don’t sell yourself short, you did a magnificent job on him…very smooth painting and excellent attention to detail…just a wonderful job!
Have you seen the Dark Sword Miniatures resin kit Triceratops ( http://tinyurl.com/35524qo ), it is one incredible looking miniature!! 🙂
