Doing my bottle

I generally use P3 and Vallejo paints, with a smattering of GW colours and one or two other brands. P3 are impossible to buy in stores where I live now, so I either have to give them up or find an online supplier. Vallejo and GW paints are in plentiful supply here though, so these are gradually replacing my P3s as my stock dwindles.

I much prefer dropper bottles and for that reason alone, I am happy to use Vallejo paints. I’ve recently started using the GW Contrast paints and, while they are an interesting product and reward careful use, I find the design of the paint bottles to be dreadful. The paint is high in pigment and very low in viscosity and so it flows from the brush nicely. Which means getting the paint out of the pot and onto a palette is not very straightforward because the paint doesn’t stay on the brush as easily as regular paint.

The other problem I have with my paints is that the plastic lids on the P3 bottles deteriorates in the heat (which is significant where I live) and cracks or splits. This dries out the paint inside and wastes around 50% of the contents during summer.

So I went and bought some 20ml dropper bottles (about 25c each) and have started transferring all of my P3 and GW paints into them. Yay, should’ve thunk of that years ago.

The labels on the original bottle peel off nicely too.
